| Next Meeting: To Be Determined |
The NEIU SPS partners with other organizations to achieve our goal of promoting physics in the community. We try our hardest to establish new relations and maintain our existing friendships. This page is dedicated to recognizing some of those partner groups and the help they've given us throughout our history.
The Northeastern Illinois Physics Department is our closest and biggest supporter. Almost all of our events and meetings are co-sponsored or partially funded by the department or faculty members of the department. The NEIU SPS Advisor is Dr. Paulo Acioli, an assistant physics professor and a mentor to many of the SPS members. Dr. Acioli has guided the organization to success and helped by putting his full confidence in all our endeavors.
Also of special mention is the support of Dr. Greg Anderson, chair of the Physics, Chemistry, and Earth Science Departments. He has constantly been there to help the SPS membership as well as all the NEIU students under his umbrella. He's come into school in his off-hours to give us access to the physics labs, and he has stayed after for SPS meetings to take part and give input.
Other members of the department, including Dr. Sudha Srinivas and Dr. Paul Dolan, have also assisted us in one form or another at some point. Thanks to all those who teach us and guide us through our education.
Our closest SPS chapter and an ally in our quest to promote physics in the community is the Northpark University SPS. We began establishing a working relationship with the NPU SPS over the summer of 2007. Through our correspondence, we've began forming the bonds necessary to work together on future events, outreach programs, and research projects.
The MSTQE is a inter-school program between Northeastern Illinois University, Truman College, and Wright College. It is a pilot program in mathematics and science for students in elementary education who seek an endorsement to teach mathematics at the middle school level. Students may enroll at any of the three campuses at which they have been admitted.
The NEIU SPS began working with the MSTQE in Summer 2008, coordinating a Science Saturday event in MSI's Science Chicago year-long event. Together we are preparing to host an event to take place in Spring 2009. Please see the Science Chicago page for further details.
