Next Meeting: To Be Determined

MEMBER RESEARCH

Like any other university, Northeastern has many gifted students who are participating in undergraduate research. As fellow physicists we love to hear others discuss the things on which they're working. With that in mind, here are the programs that our SPS members are conducting. Feel free to contact any of them to gain further information!

Steve Burkland
E-mail Me

Steve is working with Dr. Andereson to develop a more accurate and elegant method of visualizing the probable location of electrons around an atom. The location of an electron is best known by the polar plot of LeGendre Polynomials. However, the shapes of the orbitals are not truly rigid. So, they'll be working to develop a 3-D probability scatter plot to better identify the atomic orbitals.

Sam Kolontouros
E-mail Me

Sam is proving a connection between theh oscillitory motion of an object dropped through the center of the earth, and the period of rotation of that object around the earth.

Narin Ratanavade

Narin was heard saying something to the effect that he was working on turning metal into gold....
