So, you're considering making a donation to NEIU SPS? Excellent! There are many great reasons for donating to our chapter:
- Our chapter functions on monetary donations and extra-curricular member work alone. We do not collect member dues, we do not receive funding from Northeastern Illinois University, and we do not have a trust fund or rich philanthropist backing us.
- Outreach programs will affect the community and local schools in a positive way, drawing new interest to Physics and the sciences.
- Student research is an important part of the educational process. It also drives technological advances.
- We are poor students, many of us also support families while working full-time. Most of us also donate what little we can afford.
- Our members are frugal and resourceful. We will always try designing or borrowing equipment and supplies before resorting to using our limited funds. Your donation will go a very long way!
The NEIU SPS is not a registered charitable organization, so your donation will not be tax-deductible. We do use all donations strictly for the purpose of advancing the discipline of physics throughout our local community. Your donation may be used for several purposes:
- Outreach Programs - These programs are designed to reach out to the local community and schools to promote physics and research.
- Student Research - While we already have most of the equipment necessary in the NEIU Physics Labs, we sometimes need to purchase equipment and supplies for our research projects.
- Organizational Fees - Some fees are paid anually by our chapter to the National SPS to continue to qualify for outreach and research grants.
- Other Uses - Our chapter members may vote to use these funds in any way, but tend to use funds only for the previously stated needs.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding how the NEIU SPS intends to use your donation, please contact the treasurer for more information. Thanks.
