| Next Meeting: To Be Determined |
Science Chicago is a yearlong event beginning September 2008 and ending August 2009. The main goals are to encourage community involvement in, and understanding of, the sciences. In short, they want to demystify the sciences and improve general awareness of its applications. FUN is the key! It’s not enough that people have the opportunity to attend a lecture; dynamic and interactive elements are needed that allow our visitors to associate what they’re learning with what happens in the world around us.
Neighborhood Science is Northeastern Illinois University’s contribution to the Science Chicago program. In essence, it’s an open house of any interested department related to the sciences. Students in the Math, Chemistry, and Physics departments will be hosting demonstrations, to name a few. However, this event is not focused on the physical sciences and more departments are participating. Visit the “Events” section to get a breakdown of what demonstrations are available.
Neighborhood Science is not only for those already versed in science related fields. We intend this event to be open to all ages, and have adjusted our demonstration scope and style with that in mind. So, bring your family around and let’s see if we can nurture and motivate the scientific instincts in you and your children! Registration is completely free, so please sign up here.
